Geza Anda. Brahms: Two Intermezzi from Op. 117

I remembered this pretty uncommon Geza Anda record, because it’s on the same label, Boîte à musique, as the Satie Parade I just posted. I don’t believe it has been reissued. Unfortunately the pitch is a bit unstable, but the recording captures Anda’s beautiful tone very well, other than a moment in the Op. 117, No. 2 where he must have surprised the recording engineer with a sudden fortissimo, which causes a momentary blast!

One Response to Geza Anda. Brahms: Two Intermezzi from Op. 117

  1. Sturla says:

Thank you for posting these Anda rarities. He recorded Brahms Op. 117 (with the C# minor intermezzo) in the late 1950s, but I like these early variants more. His later remakes of Brahms’s intermezzos sound less natural to my ear.
