Just a quick note….I’ve restored links to many of the more recent posts with deceased Megaupload and Fileserve links. Hopefully Mediafire won’t meet the same fate!
Back with some music very soon!
Thanks for all you’ve been sharing with us. You are doing very valuable work. I particularly enjoyed your postings of Van Beinum, Van Kempen, Lehmann, Pfitzner and Fried, but, to reiterate, your site is a treasure trove of some of the greatest music making documented on recordings. Thanks, ever so much. I hope you will keep me on your mailing list.
Tkanks, again. Best wishes.
I quite agree with your attitude, Neal: this blog represents much ORIGINAL WORK and for all practical purposes the results are 100% as good as if one purchased a commercial CD reissue from Naxos, Biddulph, Pearl, etc. When YOU or your colleagues such as the professional Marston do raw disk to digital transfer, followed by your editing, it’s RECREATIVE WORK of the highest possible order. So one owes a considerable debt of gratitude. Many blogs by anonymous record pirates bandy about ripoffs of commercial in-print CDs; then the blog uploaders go apoplectic if someboday DARES to place those files elsewhere. Who the heck cares? BUT…your blog represents a remarkable gift to musical posterity, as so many of these records would be orphaned and lost completely. GIVE NEAL CREDIT! HELP HIM distribute his transfers!
I speak as a person who has transferred 78s as part of my own professional work, and as a recordist and editor of live classical music. Many persons are oblivious to the painstaking effort that is required to accomplish this work at a full professional level up to the highest standards–such as WHAT YOU, NEAL, OFFER US.
At any rate, you have MY gratitude!
Steve – retired recording engineer
I would like to thankyou very much for your files of interesting and rare recordings….. I have appreciated these over the last few years. I would like, if possible, to be invited to the new blog & download arrangements. I am not very computer-savvy, so I hope I am writing a message to the correct place!!
