Neal: How about a post of the Egon Petri Westminster Lp XWN 18747 Beethoven, “Hammerklavier” Sonata op 106. Have been seeking this for years.
Have one copy with significant surface noise that I have transfererd to CD with my Sony burner, but crackles are annoying. I don’t know how do computer noise reduction. Would be pleased to mail you a copy of this and of the LP itself if you could put it through some de-clicking/ noise reduction and post. Or, will extend same to any reader.

    Hi Neal,
I just wanted to write you a note of appreciation. I discovered your site recently, and am astounded at your generosity in sharing all these historical recordings! I’m a professional violinist myself, and right now I am very much enjoying your recordings of the Pascal Quartet – my latest obsession. (I have only been listening to their Beethoven Quartet cycle every single day for weeks! 🙂 )

Anyway, really just wanted to say thanks, and maybe express the slightest bit of curiosity of why you have chosen to do this. Of course I’m very glad that you are!

    Thanks again!

    Best regards,

Every time I attempt to open an RS Flac file I get the following notice:
An error occurred attempting to expand/Smetacek_DvorakLegends_16bit_Flac.part2.rar The structure of the archive is damaged (Error #17540) Can anyone help?
This happens to all four pieces I have attempted to download; it is not confined to the Smetacek.

Looking for a very special recording unfortunately at this moment only available via
So just checking whether some inter-continental ways would be possible to find and to let this really great CD made available for more listeners…even some tips appreciated

I too am looking for this recording, and have it on order from HMV Japan. However the original czech site says that it is out of print, and HMV says that it is back-ordered.

I you have finally got the recording, might I find a way to get a copy?

Sorry, I missed the original message(s), despite approving them! Anyhow, I didn’t know about that Talich live material, but I will certainly try and find out about it, so thanks!

@Terence. I’m sorry you’re having trouble with the files. I’m not able to reproduce the problem but I’m going to try some new uploads as soon as I can.

Thanks for your great generosity in doing all this beautiful work. I have just begun to explore your site while working on a discography of the Haydn Symphonies in the 20th century. I noticed a little more than a year ago you posted the Beecham performances listed below. The part I heard was a terrific transfer, unfortunately I was only able to get the first movement of 93 in the flac format which I use for my archive reference (the others refused to come down in flac or anything I could convert). Any chance I could convince your to send the other 3 movements of 93 and the 4 each of 99 and 104 in flac? I believe the 93 and 99 are first recordings of these symphonies. Thank you very much for anything you can do to help out a tired, old, researcher.

Please do not publish this note. Thanks.

Neal, great web site you have!! I’ve downloaded lots of stuff from your archives & you might want to know that 99% of your Mediafire links still work plus some of the Rapidshare links still work too. Anyway thanks for the recordings & I’ll be checking your blog for new & interesting transfers from time to time.
